Short Message Service (SMS) is a service offered on mobile phones and other devices to send short text messages to one another.
On the Treo 650 and later, it is handled by the Messaging application.

Can I send messages longer than 160 charactors?
Version 1 of the Treo 600 ROM for GSM did allow long SMS from the SMS application. In version 1.1, the feature appears to have been removed. The only way to send a long SMS application in the version 1.1 ROM is to use the MMS application.
