There are also several 3rd party clients that are available for use. A popular choice is Snappermail which allows you to do POP3 e-mail and send mail via SMTP. It has numerous features and is a very nice e-mail client. It costs $39.95 unless you want SSL support which costs $49.95. You can see more about SnapperMail's features at:

Another popular choice is ChatterEmail+. It supports IMAP, POP3, and Microsoft Exchange (with the Microsoft Exchange plugin for additional cost). The most outstanding feature is true "PUSH" for IMAP and Mircosoft Exchange mailboxes which allows emails to be received at real-time and without the need of scheduling the pulling of the emails from the mail server (though it is provided as an option if the user prefers). Users also benefit by background email sychronization which means there is no interruption on the application(s) the user is working on while ChatterEmail+ is downloading emails. Together with outstanding customer support and other great features such as 'smart' SMTP profile selection, storing emails and attachments in the SD card, single-key operation at most screens (such as simply hitting 'D' to delete a message), ChatterEmail+ is a preferred choice and is voted 'Favorite Email Application for the Treo' by a TreoCentral.com poll in April 2006. ChatterEmail+ with Matrix SSL support costs $39.95 with free upgrades. The EX bundle costs $59.95 which includes the Microsoft Exchange plugin. You can see more about ChatterEmail+ features at:

If you're looking for a free client, there's the Eudora Internet Suite. It includes a text only web browser and a POP3/SMTP mail client. The mail client has quite a few features including SSL support and Eudora Internet Suite even includes a mail conduit for syncing with your desktop mailbox which no other client does. While still available, it's listed by Eudora as unsupported. If you're still interested in all of the features that are included then take a look at:

Another 3rd party company is [www.visto.com Visto]. Visto made the TreoMail client that was on the Treo 300. They have since updated the client and it is now called MessageXpress. MessageXpress comes in two flavors, Internet E-mail which is $49.95 a year which supports POP3 only and Corporate E-mail which is $99.95 a year supports Microsoft Exchange. Both of those solutions sync to a server which turn talks directly with the POP3 server or the client that runs on the desktop in the case of the Corporate edition. Finally, there's Good's Good Mobile Messaging software (formerly called GoodLink). Good is pretty much for enterprise customers as it is a Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino solution only. Good's software runs on its' own server and syncs the a Microsoft Exchange 5.5 or Microsoft Exchange 2000 server. Good's client replaces the calendar and contacts of the Treo with its' own built software. All these functions are then synced with the user's Exchange accounts. Good's server is roughly $2000 for the server and then costs some amount of dollars per number of clients. Good exclusively targets businesses and not consumers at this time. Yet another email option is Inbox to go Wireless from [www.dataviz.com Dataviz].
