PalmOS is shorthand for Palm Operating System and is the operating system that runs most Treos as well as all other non-Treo Palm devices. It has gone through several revisions over the years, but is generally accepted to have the following features:

• Intuitive and easy to use; this is commonly referred to as the Zen of Palm.
• Very good PIM applications.
• Relatively poor Multitasking support
• Very fast and stable, primarily because of the relative simplicity of the OS.
• Supports at least 10,000 (possibly closer to 15,000) 3rd-party applications.
