Overview

the PalmOS has Shortcuts built-in, but they are difficult to access on a Treo.

A: PalmOS Treos

It isn't much of a shortcut for the Treo, but you can still make use of shortcuts in the following way:

1. Enter the letter "s" into the text field.

2a. Press the Alt key to bring up the alternate character screen.

2b. Select the shortcut symbol at the bottom of the list. The easiest way is to keep holding the Alt key for 1 second. Other ways are to press the Alt key three more times or to press down on the 5-way three times. (Note: you do not have to select the symbol by pressing the center 5-way button, but you can if you want)

3. Type the abbreviation letters you used in creating your shortcut. When you have entered enough letters to uniquely identify the shortcut, Palm will automatically replace the sequence with the full text.

Just in case you don't remember how to set shortcuts, it is a category in the Preferences app.
