Locked bookmarks
From TreoCentral
On the Treo 600 (and possibly earlier models), some bookmarks may not be editable, instead they are 'locked.' However, with a little bit of digging, it is possible to delete these bookmarks.
This has been tested on a Sprint Treo 600. We have not confirmed that this technique works with other carrier Treo versions although it should.
Disclaimer:
Although this should be perfectly safe, TreoCentral does not assume any liability for any damage that may occur by using these instructions.
Instructions:
1. Back up your Blazer files. I used FileZ to copy all files with a BLZ5 id to a directory on my SD card.
2. Download RsrcEdit here and sync it to your Treo.
3. Fire it up, then open the Bookmarks file.
4. Each record represents one bookmark, in the order they appear in Blazer
5. Sanity check: you should have as many records as you have bookmarks defined in Blazer (e.g. I have 43 bookmarks, and so have 43 records)
6. Open the record of "undeletable" bookmark (its record number will correspond to its index in your Blazer bookmarks, not counting blanks)
7. Confirm that this is indeed an "undeletable" bookmark (look at the URL)
8. The third byte should be 0x02, this tells Blazer "you know better than the user, don't let him/her/it delete this bookmark"
9. Zero out this byte (FYI, a 0x01 in the third byte indicates that the page's contents have been saved) 10. Hit OK, then select the next bookmark, go to step 7 and repeat until all of the bookmarks you want deleted have ben removed. That's it!
Thanks to Olop for figuring this out and documenting it!
